Dear Building Energy Modeling Professionals,

Allow me to inform you that GRAPHISOFT EcoDesigner STAR for ArchiCAD 17 - a new BIM-Integrated Energy Analysis computer program for architects - has been released.

We hope to achieve the following goals with this new product:

  * For architects - integrate energy simulation into all phases of the architectural design workflow to help minimize the energy demand of buildings
  * For BEMP's - no need to re-create architectural model geometries for energy analysis

Feature highlights:

  *   Direct BIM to BEM
  * BIM Geometry and Thermal Property Data Export to all major energy calculation software (via IFC, gbXML and various direct data export channels)
  *   Model-Based Solar Irradiation Study
  *   Model-Based Thermal Bridge Simulation
  *   On-Site Renewables
  * Dynamic Energy Simulation Using ASHRAE 140 Standard-Compliant Analysis Engine (see http://www.strusoft.com/products/vip-energy for more info on the VIP-Core calculation kernel)
  * Building Energy Performance Rating functionality suits multiple performance rating standards, including ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G

Subject: [Ibpsausa] Training: Introduction to Energy Modeling w/ OpenStudio - LIVE DEMO

Are you curious about how NREL’s OpenStudio(OS) platform for EnergyPlus is changing the way building professionals approach energy modeling…?
Join PSD on February 11th, 2014 @ 1:00pm for a one-hour LIVE demonstration of the OpenStudio modeling ecosystem. You will learn how to rapidly create building form and fabric using the OpenStudio Sketchup Plugin, calibrate the model to pre-retrofit utility usage, and apply energy conservation measures from NREL’s BCL (Building Component Library). We’ll also show you how to use high performance computing resources to configure and execute simulation studies.
As a licensed OpenStudio training and support organization, PSD is offering this webinar to raise awareness of the potential power of OpenStudio. The webinar will be led by PSD’s Vice President of Research and Development, Chris Balbach.
