​​You are invited to join the people of Israel in commemoration of the 6 million Jews who died in the Holocaust at this official livestreamed event. This year's Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) Opening Ceremony will be exclusively broadcast by our partners at the Christian Desk at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem—and our ICEJ Family is invited!
The opening ceremony will be broadcast LIVE Monday, April 20th at 1:00 pm (EST)<https://default.salsalabs.org/Te0311a2d-aa92-4e76-b7fb-a680cb579665/df701c49-3fc1-4c8c-a4d6-7458ad6e6afe>. Due to restrictions mandated by Israel's Health Ministry, the ceremony will be pre-recorded and will include messages from Israeli President Reuven Rivlin and Isaeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The event will also include the stories of the six torch lighters, musical interludes, prayers from the chief rabbis and a cantor, and a message delivered on behalf of the Survivors.
In addition, on Tuesday, April 21st the ICEJ will commemorate Yom HaShoah at a special service hosted by ICEJ President Dr. Jürgen Bühler. It will include special guests, Yisrael Meir Lau, Chairman of Yad Vashem (Holocaust Survivor and former Chief Rabbi of Israel), Shaya Ben Yehuda, Director of International Desk at Yad Vashem, and Sari Granitza, Director of Christian Friends of Yad Vashem.
Because the Tuesday ceremony will start at the sounding of the Yom HaShoah siren in Israel at 10:00 am (Israel Standard Time), which is 3 am EST, we will send a follow up alert when the service is available to watch on-demand.
We hope you will have time to pause with us in remembrance at these two special events.
