If the zoning is simple, such as only one open area, you may also make a zone or zones that stretches around leaving a hole in the middle, such as this single-zone plan below:

<div>I think you can just do your zoning in the DD wizard, then eventually go to the Detail Edit mode, remove the roofs, and make the adjoining walls external rather than internal. You may need to add some self shading as well.</div>
