(The roof is the<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>ceiling.) I had put skylights in the roof surface, but they belonged to <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>the under-roof space, so eQUEST wouldn't model daylighting for the <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>space "below" the under-roof space.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>So, as suggested, I created new exterior walls using the same polygons <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>as the roof surfaces (and I modified them to decrease their area, even <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>though I probably didn't have to). I gave the "roof" walls a new <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>construction with U - 0.0001, and made sure they were not shading <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>surfaces. Then I created skylights in the exterior walls. I kept the <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>original roof surfaces, but deleted the skylights that I had created in <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>them previously. And it seems to work just fine, with a modest amount <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>of daylighting savings.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>Thanks,<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoPlainText>>Bill<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'>Regards,<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'>Bill<o:p></o:p></span></p><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><img width=496 height=123 id="_x0000_i1028" src="cid:image004.jpg@01CC0FCC.F337FEE0" alt="Signature in jpg form"><o:p></o:p></span></p></div><p class=MsoNormal><span style='color:#1F497D'><o:p> </o:p></span></p><div><div style='border:none;border-top:solid #B5C4DF 1.0pt;padding:3.0pt 0in 0in 0in'><p class=MsoNormal><b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'>From:</span></b><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Tahoma","sans-serif"'> equest-users-bounces@lists.onebuilding.org [mailto:equest-users-bounces@lists.onebuilding.org] <b>On Behalf Of </b>Nick Caton<br><b>Sent:</b> Wednesday, May 11, 2011 10:56 AM<br><b>To:</b> equest-users@lists.onebuilding.org<br><b>Subject:</b> [Equest-users] Another skylight conundrum!
