i'd also forgotten. there is a length limit to meter names. i think.
at least there is in terms of how much of the name is displayed in the
.sim file under the ps-a plant energy utilization.<br>
the example i gave below has 4 meters reported as "em-3 electricity" -
this could be just the way equest/doe pulls the meter info together but
it is not clear to me how the truncation keeps them separated - though
the meters have the same name in the report each appears on a separate
line like the submeter names below ...<br>

apparently the limit is 4 characters per meter name.<br>
