Eric,
RET Screen is an excellent program to use and I also highly recommend learning to use it if you're planning to incorporate renewable energy systems in your analysis. Another option is to get a rough estimate of wind speeds by using the following link:

http://firstlook.3tier.com/

You can register for free and enter the address or coordinates of the site. The wind speed results are based on tower heights of 20m, 50m or 80m.

If you need to adjust the energy output from the wind turbine based on a different tower height, I use the following formula:

V / VR = ((Z - D) / ZR)*exp(a)
Where:
Z is the Desired Height of the Turbine
ZR is the Reference Height (Height At Which Wind Speed Was Measured)
V is the Wind Speed At the Desired Height of the Turbine
VR is the Wind Speed At the Reference Height(Height At Which Wind Speed Was Measured)
D is the Displacement Height, Which is The Height Above the Roughness Elements Where the Wind Flow is Free. For Most Vegetation, D is Small & is Generally Treated As Zero
a is the Surface Friction Coefficient

The Surface Friction Coefficients are as follows:
Description of Terrain Coefficient
Smooth, hard ground, lake or ocean 0.10
Short grass on untilled ground 0.14
Level country with foot-high grass,
occasional tree 0.16
Tall row crops, hedges, a few trees 0.2
Many trees, occasional buildings 0.22-0.24
Wooded country, small towns
and suburbs 0.28-0.30
Urban areas, with tall buildings 0.40

Once you figure out the wind speed, then look at the wind turbine manufacturer's web site for specs on the turbine. You should be able to find an Annual Energy Output graph which will list the expected energy output based on the wind speed. Once you determine the energy output, reduce that amount by 20% for a more realistic output.
