ventilation
air). If I have cycling or variable control fans, I set my fan controls to
"variable" and set the minimum supply ratio equal to my outdoor air ratio.
This then gives a pretty accurate representation of a system that cycles
fans on and off (use the right fan curve to approx cycling), or of a
variable speed system (again, appropriate fan curve), but has constant
ventilation air.

If you don't do this, what happens when you turn on the DCV, is that the
system is now required to provide ventilation air, so your building may now
be getting MORE than it was before, although this obviously won't happen in
real life.

The other (less likely) thing that could be happening, is that if you have
not updated your occupancy schedules from the wizard, is that your occupancy
schedule for this space is not appropriate for a dining room, but is
averaged with all other occupancy types.

Good

I believe the heat exchanger module is basically to attach a cooling
tower to a loop, nothing else

2. I have had trouble having eQuest properly recovery heat from a loop. I
have found that using chillers, eQuest will only recover up to 100% of the
chiller's hourly capacity (chillers usually reject more than 100% to the CW
loop), also, sometimes much less than 100% is recovered.

3. With the loop-to-loop heat pump, I recall it being called on by a
cooling load, and not by a heating load. In other words, it will reject
heat to a heating loop only when a cooling load
exists, but will not turn on
if only a heating load exists. I'd be delighted if anyone can tell me how
to operate it otherwise.

I recently completed a project that required modeling heat recovery. I
ended up using the hourly outputs, and calculating in an excel spreadsheet.
I did get some test models that appeared to work, but when I looked at the
hourly results, sometimes only 15% of the heat was being recovered when the
HW loop could've used 100% why... I don't know.

Hope this helps, and eQuest developers--I'd love to see a solution to the
above issues. I have found that often I am over or under cooling during
startup periods, i.e. my equipment is sized appropriately for loads at
constant indoor temperatures, but if I'm trying to heat the building 5
degrees in 1 hour, I may have some problems.

Also, in packaged systems, I have found that some of the spaces without a
thermostat often have unmet load hours. I believe this is due to the fact
that eQuest doesn't always accurately model airflow through each zone.
Usually, when I model multiple rooms served by a single system (heat pump,
for example), I model the rooms as one zone together. I feel that this is
appropriate as long as the spaces have similar use type, exposure and
schedules.

One last thing--if you have baseboards and you added them after the
