Hi Sid,
I can so far validate your experience – I can also observe 5 options for that input in the parametric run editor, and only 4 options in the chiller definition interface / doe2 reference manual literature (help files).
No solid answers just yet, but to get a quick set of thoughts out:
* I vaguely recall that among other features/capabilities not yet implemented in doe 2.3 but available in doe 2.2 mode, there was some mention of evaporative cooling? Might be worth looking into
* I gather from the prompt that you are unsatisfied with the remote evaporative option… so in kind does that mean you’re dealing with a “packaged” evaporatively cooled chiller where the performance is defined in the manner of a packaged air cooled chiller (like, dependent on ambient air conditions)?
* I haven’t tried this yet, but if you run a parametric run with this “mystery” option, it may prove insightful to then open up the resultant .inp file (tagged with your parametric flag and found in the same directory as your project files after simulation)… then see exactly what was written to the chiller. This assumes nothing crashes of course.
Let us know your findings as you explore this!

Hello all,
I have a situation where I need to evaluate an evaporatively cooled condenser for an air-cooled chiller. There are options to change the condenser type in Chiller Properties tab like water-cooled, air-cooled, remote air-cooled & remote evaporatively cooled. But when I try to change the condenser type using parametric runs I see an additional option *EVAP-COOLED under air-cooled option. Can anyone let me know how is this different from remote evaporatively cooled condenser type? And if so, what performance curves should we use if we select the *EVAP-COOLED as condenser type. (I tried using both air-cooled chiller PC as well as remote PC but both showed negative savings between regular air cooled condenser and evap cooled condenser.)
