[Equest-users] ECM motors modelling in eQuest

Hi Pramod,

As per me the ECM motors modelling has to be chosen in between constant
flow ,variable flow and other flow options.

The limitation that eQUEST have is to opt between constant, variable or two
speed for fan flows.
But as we know that ECM motors are also efficient and mightily run as a
variable kind of fan.
At low speed the ECM is over 30% more efficient than a standard induction
motor. The ECM motor has a minimum efficiency of 70% throughout its entire
operating range.

So as per me due to lack of accuracy in modeling the ECM motors i could
have gone for modelling it as a variable speed fan flow parameters in
eQUEST.

Subject: [Equest-users] ECM motors modelling in eQuest
Hello Masters,

I am working on a project where DOAS with ECM motors are used. This is
something new to me. Has anyone of you came across this?

The DOAS fans use EC motors and not VFDs. Apparently this fans has
unloading efficiency power savings. The fan efficiency appear to be very
low (around 50%-60%), but it is compensated by premium EC motors supposed
to give power savings. I have no clue on how to model this.

Awaiting your responses,
Regards,
Pramod
