Daric:

Sorry to hear of the headaches! I can swing by your place sometime in the near future and get you on track – we need to catch up anyway.

I’m testing the waters regularly but still consider 7163 my “stable” build for heavy projects. 3.65.7173, particularly with the advent of new doe2.3 features, has a lot to like but I’m only using it where I need those specific features (typically a “fork” study/exploration from a 7163 project). I personally find it worthwhile having both at-hand and recommend it. But if anyone is going to install only one version/build I’d point them to 3.65.7163.

A likely overdue reminder for anyone that isn’t aware: you can easily find installers (msi) for each of these builds referenced and more here: http://doe2.com/download/equest/

Since my last posting on the matter, I’ve helped a few dozen others off-list without issue… so together we might update the procedure I last outlined for the community’s benefit.

Hit me up off-list and we’ll schedule a lunch/coffee hour.

~Nick

Subject: [Equest-users] eQuest Versions issues

All;
Mild Rant here – I am more frequently running into issues with eQuest completely destroying the formatting (and usability) of the SIM file. ‘Restarting’ isn’t consistently fixing the issue either.
So, I undertook an effort to install the old 3.65 v7163 along with the newer v7173 – what a nightmare. I have followed both William/Bill and Nick’s previous steps – no luck. The older 7163 installed files are deleted when the new 7173 is installed.

Renaming the .exe file also causes issues. Any other ideas on how to ‘hide’ the old install so the new install doesn’t remove the files?

OR, any ideas on when this issue might be re-refixed and this two flavors of 3.65 version madness can end?

For now, going back to just the old 7163 – because it just works.

Thanks,
