All,
I need to simulation in eQUEST an office building in Bangkok for LEED project.
This project used Daikin VRF system with fan-coil unit to control many zone. First, I selected PVAVS instead of PSZ (suggest by manufacturer guidance) because it have control zone.
For PVAVS, I revised a FAN-CONTROL to constant , Min Flow Ratio = 1 and then put zone assign flow as fan-coil unit spec per room.
I put system fan power by sum of fan-coil kW/cfm per system, system capacity as CDU spec and put all performance curve from manufacturer.
After reviewed, reviewer had a comment
a. The narrative states that a packaged VAV system was modeled instead of a packaged single zone system as is indicated in the manufacturer's guidance.
However, this is inappropriate as each fan coil unit in the design is required to meet the space load as necessary while a packaged VAV is designed
to supply cool air to all spaces and either adjust the volume of air or reheat the air as necessary in order to maintain the space setpoint.
Based on the zoning of the spaces it is unclear if the cooling loads seen by each fan coil unit in the design will be consistent with the cooling load
seen by all of the units on each condenser combined.
How can I simulate VRF system for this project or answer this question?
Thank you in advance
