[Equest-users] How to model infrared gas heater

Another fast approximation might involve:

- Unit heaters on a per zone basis

- Zeroed out fan energy

- Drop zonal heating setpoint by ~10 degrees from comfort
(reference specified manufacturer recommendations and general guidelines
regarding occupant comfort for the associated controls)

- Assign a unitary efficiency for the “furnace” of the unit
heaters in consideration of what radiant fraction is expected to be
delivered to the space vs. exhausted (for powered IR units only)

- Noting IR heating is commonly leveraged in exterior and
semi-exterior environments where heating the conditioned volume of air
doesn’t make sense due to fast turnover / wind effects: Invest some of the
time you’ve saved so far to give some serious consideration to the
associated infiltration inputs, to accurately capture outside air change
rates

You can approximate a gas infrared heater by adding baseboard heating to
your system and selecting BASEBOARD-SOURCE = FURNACE.

Does anyone have an idea how to model a gas infrared heater in eQUEST?
