[Equest-users] Difficulty merging spaces

Thanks - it sounds as though there is no technique to merge spaces (once
mapped) other than using an air wall. I could have imagined a function
that combined the loads and mass properties from a number of spaces into
a super-space.

I use unmet loads in the spaces as an objective measure of whether the
model is "providing" enough energy. I'm not sure how to decide when
unmet loads can be ignored. Unmet loads criteria will also have to be
fulfilled.

Dan,

I'm not sure why you are trying to manage unmet loads. I would suggest
that you do all you can to meet the loads and don't worry about it
further. Since your "spaces" are really at an equilibrium temperature
once you call the wall an air wall that should suffice.

Carol

On occasion I have mapped a single physical space as two adjacent
spaces. This is convenient when, for example, the ceiling heights vary
considerably. I have been unable to merge the two spaces - the result
being seen as different unmet loads in each space. I have tried turning
the wall to an air wall with very high U value to no avail. I have
sometimes been able to manage unmet loads by fixing space air flow, but
this is not ideal, especially when trying to auto-size to fulfill
modeling protocol. Can anyone please guide me on this.
