KPF is looking for a Director of Environmental Design who will lead the firm in the most innovative directions, implementing ambitious and comprehensive sustainability goals, increasing firm-wide fluency, and advancing development of applied research and new
technologies.<br>
<br>
The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience in environmental design, a collaborative attitude, a thorough knowledge of global policies and practices in sustainability, along with strong communication and presentation skills. Based in New York, this
firm wide leadership position will work directly with project team leaders and in parallel with various specialist teams – KPF | UI (ui.kpf.com) our urban data and performance analytic specialist, our Urban Planning and Design team, and with our Digital Practice
effort by incorporating the candidate’s expertise into a collaborative workflow to drive a holistic and unique approach to design.<br>
<br>
Specific responsibilities of this role are as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>Work with KPF leadership to define and advance the firm’s innovation agenda about energy and the environment
</li><li>Lead a team to implement environmental strategies on KPF projects </li><li>Direct the KPF education program in environmental design concepts through internal workshops, seminars, and firm wide working sessions.
</li><li>Interact with various external stakeholders – clients, government officials, owners, and external consultants.
</li><li>Serve as the representative of KPF, leading the firm in energy, the environment, resiliency and wellness through speaking at conferences, within academia and professional organizations.
</li><li>Establish and maintain an applied research agenda and links with academia. Engage with professional organizations and the environmental performance/sustainability community at large.
</li><li>Remain current with developing trends, practices and legislation in sustainability globally.
</li></ul>

Relevant experience may include individual building design and city-scale master plans, building systems design, performance measurement, policy and planning. This individual will interact directly with design teams and consultants to craft an innovative approach.
Knowledge of, or interest in global sustainability regulations – LEED, BREEAM, Passivhaus, 3-Star and Greenmark will be important, as is familiarity with IOT and Smart Building Technologies. The role will include coordination and collaboration across offices
in London, Hong Kong and Shanghai with periodic travel.<br>
