<div>White Box Technologies has recently updated 2017 weather files
through October 8 for 8,298 locations around the world (2107 US,
289 Canadian, 5902 international). As a boon to EnergyPlus
users, a fix has been added to all historical EPWs to set
correctly the starting Day of Week for Jan. 1 instead of the
hard-wired default of Sunday (luckily, this is not a problem
with the 2017 files since Jan 1 2017 is actually a Sunday!).<br>

The WBT web site also allows users to create composite year
weather files, i.e., those whose data begin on Jan. 1 of one year
through a user-specified date, followed by data from that date
forward of a different year (typically the previous year). Such
composite year weather files are useful for eQUEST users since
DOE-2 assumes that the weather file begins on Jan 1 and ends of
Dec. 31. However, if these files are used to calibrate against
commercial building utility bills, adjustments must be made to the
day of week schedules at the switchover date (I'll post some
instructions and samples on my Web site, as well as include them
with all future composite year weather files).<br>

Added to the weather files previously generated going back to
2001, the WBT Weather web site now contain 16-year time series of
hourly weather for 6,500 locations, and shorter time series for
another 3,500 locations. WBT can also create "typical year"
weather files for any of these locations, although one should
check first whether there's already a TMY3 for a US location, or
a IWEC2 file for an international location.<br>
