<P>Has anyone done energy modeling of Solatube daylights with dimmers?</P>

<P>The issue I have is described below for a project in CT:</P>

<P>the unit models are th 290 DS Units w/ optiview Diffusers </P>

<P>We have a total of 13 units in an approx 2000SF office/ conf. bldg</P>

<P>For the bldg's use of these solatubes, they have them on switched dimmers which are at this time controlled by handto close them when it's either too bright outside or when there's a presentation in the conference room. I am suggesting that the client implement a dimmer use strategy to require all employees to close the solatubes via dimmers on Friday PMs when they leave and open them on Monday AMs when they arrive DURING the cooling season only and any other time they will not be in their offices or conference room for longer than an hour during the cooling season. They can leave them open all heating season long.</P>

<P>How would on model that for LEED certification and does ayone think the USGBC would allow such an usage schedule?</P>

<P>Right now there is no administrative policy for closing the dimmers in the cooling season but they can easily implement that and since there are only a few number of people that work in the building and would follow that policy.</P>
