<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Hello,<br>
<br>
I am working on the energy simulation of a hotel building of two floor
height and one lakh square foot. <br>
Is ASHRAE 90.1-2004 and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">LEED</st1:City>
<st1:State w:st="on">NC</st1:State></st1:place> applicable for this project?<br>
<br>
I found the following relevant sections; <br>
<br>
LEED NC Page 14, "III A : When to Use LEED for New
Construction" , according to this, hotel of any size is a commercial
occupancy and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">LEED</st1:City> <st1:State
w:st="on">NC</st1:State></st1:place> is applicable.<br>
<br>
According to ASHRAE 90.1-2004 definition of "low rise
residential" as given on Page 9, hotels doesn't come under low rise
residential buildings. And as per the foot notes of Table G3.1.1A on page 176
of Appendix G ASHRAE 90.1-2004, hotel is considered as a residential building
but not a low rise residential building and ASHRAE is only not applicable to
low rise residential building.<br>
<br>
>From all the above it is clear that ASHRAE 90.1-2004 and <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City
w:st="on">LEED</st1:City> <st1:State w:st="on">NC</st1:State></st1:place> are
applicable for this project, however it would be great if anyone can give more
inputs in this regard.<br>
<br>
Thanks & Regards,<br>
