font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>We are holding a 2-Day DesignBuilder/EnergyPlus
“advanced” building energy simulation workshop at
Pacific Energy Center, downtown San Francisco on Wednesday and Thursday, 17
– 18 June 2009. The workshop is being lead by Dr Mahabir Bhandari of
DesignBuilder Software (USA) and PC Thomas of Team Catalyst Pty Ltd
(Australia). Both personnel have extensive experience in the use and teaching
of building energy simulation programs. Participants will use the DesignBuilder/EnergyPlus
suite extensively over the two days. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><span
lang=EN-AU style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black'>Day1 will be
focused on developing building geometry with DesignBuilder, importing from
2D-DXF and 3D gbXML import from CAD. Various DB features, including
complex geometry, template</span><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>
and Model Data Management, Schedules, Heating Design, Cooling Design,
Simulation options, parametric runs will be discussed.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p class=MsoNormal style='mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto'><span
lang=EN-AU style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif";color:black'> Day2 will
be focused on modelling systems using EnergyPlus. A simple 5-zone
model will be exported from DesignBuilder to EnergyPlus. The native IDF
Editor will be used to develop HVAC Template options to generate a VAV
system. A series of HVAC design upgrades will be tested. These
could include, adding AHUs, supply air reset control, VSD drives, low turn down
ratios, low static pressure ductwork, or upgrading air cooled to water cooled
plant. </span><span style='font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'><o:p></o:p></span></p>
