CFD programs for labs.

Well of course as you state Matt, Fluent is the daddy and the one I'd
trust most.

After that, well Star-CD and/or the very capable CCM+ front end would
be good.

Flair from CHAM is tried and tested for HVAC analysis, but you'd need a
good front end program for domain creation really as it can be a bit
difficult otherwise. If you've got a good 3d program like Rhino, etc
though, you'll be fine.

Flomerics has pretty outputs and could and has been used for such cases
as far as I'm aware.

Other than that you could try OpenFoam if you fancy a free CFD engine.
Yes it relies on much greater ability and understanding of the domain
and problem, but if you get a front end pre-processor like Pointwise or
GridGen then it will put the model out in a Fluent format which can be
translated directly using one of the openfoam translators.

There are many other smaller less well known free or low cost ones that
will be ok probably, just depends on what level of accuracy you
require. Is it results for analysis or the more commonly required Colour
For Directors? DesignBuilders CFD tool will be out in
the next couple of months or so and should offer a good link between
Dynamic Models and a good CFD tool without the extreme price of the
Fluent camp.
