fenestration and computer simulation. The first paper presents the
development of new metrics to rate complex fenestration products with regards to
aspects of indoor environment quality, namely: view impairment
index (which is used to evaluate the outdoor or indoor view-privacy),
luminance index (which links to discomfort glare), light diffusion quality
index (which links to luminance uniformity on work planes). The
second paper presents the </FONT><SPAN lang=EN-CA><FONT
face=Arial>underlying theory and detailed calculation procedures.<SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>The procedures include models for the
glazing assembly and models for special glazing panes such as a clear substrate
with applied or laminated scattering film, composite film made up of a number of
homogeneous materials, and screen-like glazing panes such as insect/shading
screens, roller blinds, drapery sheets, honeycomb transparent insulation and
fibreglass translucent glazing. The models are implemented in a new
version of SkyVision (not released yet).</FONT></SPAN></SPAN></SPAN></DIV>

lighting and energy performance than regular <SPAN

effect on building's occupant satisfaction: they may impair the view
through and increase the risk of discomfort glare. </FONT><SPAN
class=562113514-15062007><FONT face=Arial> </FONT><FONT face=Arial>Adding
these new ratings to the<SPAN
class=562113514-15062007> exiting </SPAN>energy ratings
(U-value, SHGC, VT) will help in the pre-selection of CFS prior to their
installation in buildings to avoid any detrimental effect on occupant
satisfaction and energy performance of the installed
