I am not sure which file formats have the soil surface temperature
in them but TRNSYS is able to read the TMY, TMY2, EnergyPlus,
International Weather for Energy Calculations (IWEC), Canadian Weather
for Energy Calculations (CWEC), or user-format data. The most extensive
data for Europe I believe comes from Meteonorm in TMY2 format and that is
not a format that includes a field for soil surface temperature. If you
are unable to find a source of soil surface temperatures then the two
typical solutions that we have used are to use the Kasuda correlation
(temperature is a function of depth and time of year), or a soil surface
energy balance. Both are available as Types for TRNSYS.<br>
