I have aLEED EA-1 question that I am hoping someone has had to deal with previously.

I am looking at a potential LEED project that involves the extensive renovation of an existing building and the construction of a new addition. The existing building is three floors (15,000 sq.ft.) and the new addition will be two stories (4,000 sq.ft.).

I am wondering how USGBC is currently dealing with projects that incorporate renovation and addition. At what point is a project still considered an existing building allowing the use of the Existing Building savings percentages? I cannot seem to find a discussion about it in the NC 2.1 User's Manual.

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you.
