
<HTML><FONT FACE=arial,helvetica><FONT  SIZE=2 FAMILY="SANSSERIF" FACE="Arial" LANG="0">The DOE sponsored research to test the effect of the thermal mass and the relation between thermal mass and thermal insulation in different climates. DOE-2 was used to simulate different building alternatives. In summary, the research results showed that thermal mass may increase, decrease or has no effect on energy consumption. <BR>
