That is interesting. The LEED Gold project I simulated required
some modifications (from the LEED reviewer) that could not be done with
HAP, etc. Only a 3D capable program could do what I was required to
do using DOE2.1e. I could have done the same with DOE2.2.

project submissions. Other commercially available software programs such
as Carrier Corporation's HAP meet all data acceptability requirements of
LEEDS and the ECB method from ASHRAE 90.1-2001.<br>

<dd>We use DOE2.1e in our shop. Primarily because of the significant verification against measured data that has been done on DOE2.1e over the years. The other reason is that ASHRAE 90.1 and in particular LEED require simulation using DOE2.1e. <br><br>
<dd>Here in Canada, the Model National Energy Code, Performance Option required simulation using EE4 (a free compliance tool http://www.ee4.com ) that used the DOE2.1e engine from Hirsh and Associates. Similar to eQuest, you can use EE4 to quickly generate an input file then edit it for you particular situation.<br><br>

I have used DOE-2.1 since 1984 and have some small familiarity with the intent, switches, and boundaries of the program. Until a decent front end come along for EnergyPlus, this is the way I am going.
