Description:

Multi-zone heat pump systems, commonly known as Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF), is a modern HVAC system frequently used in commercial and multi-family building construction. While these systems are often praised as a high efficiency solution the mystery of how and why is often hard to determine. Learn the fundamentals of how VRF systems work, how different architectural and engineering design configurations can impact efficiency, and how to go about creating a basic energy model in OpenStudio to estimate performance.
