Hello All,

Our next BSUG is right around the corner! On May 25th we will be hosting Victoria Herrero-Garcia from Ambient Energy, a Mead & Hunt company. She will be discussing how the built industry has focused its efforts on measuring and reducing operational carbon emissions, carbon emissions related to materials used in our projects is gaining relevance; measuring, understanding, and reducing these emissions should be a key addition to all design practices. To learn more about this lecture please see below or to register you can use this link: https://uidaho.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZItc-yoqD8sHtBaho34vgRkqHKuJaPoqD1f or the one below. We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,

Description:

The built industry has focused its efforts on measuring and reducing operational carbon emissions, carbon emissions related to materials used in our projects is gaining relevance; measuring, understanding, and reducing these emissions should be a key addition to all design practices. This presentation will cover general embodied carbon concepts, Whole-Building Life-Cycle Assessment (WBLCA) tools to quantity embodied carbon in buildings, and tools for all disciplines to start the conversations.

Bio:
Victoria Herrero-Garcia
Victoria is a senior sustainability and carbon project manager for Ambient Energy, a Mead & Hunt company. She enjoys initiating embodied carbon conversations with teams early in the design phase and helping them develop sustainability strategies to achieve carbon reductions. Victoria fulfills her passion for reducing carbon emissions by educating and collaborating with other professional groups, including acting as the Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) Rocky Mountain Hub co-chair. She has been featured as the carbon expert of the month for One Click LCA, a tool to complete whole-building life-cycle analysis. In addition, Victoria authored an article for the Technology|Architecture + Design (TAD) magazine called Whole-Building Life Cycle Assessment: Comparison of Available Tools.
Victoria holds a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Building Engineering from La Laguna University in the Canary Islands, Spain, and a Master of Science in Sustainable Design from Philadelphia University(now Thomas Jefferson University).
