Radiance is a suite of programs for the analysis and visualization of lighting in design, and it has been consistently used in research and practice since 1989. The Radiance workshop is an opportunity to learn, present, share and discuss your lighting simulation work with other lighting simulation enthusiasts. Besides a COVID interruption in 2020, the workshop has been going strong for two decades . There are a few more presentation slots open . If you have some exciting work to present and discuss with the community, please consider to send in a short abstract by 18 July. An exciting workshop is already forming: * On 3 August, there will be hands-on tutorials by Bo Jung (U. of Washington) on melanopic (or ipRGC-influenced) lighting measurements using your own camera and Stephen Wasilewski (EPFL) on fast, image-based methods for annual glare assessments using his new Raytraverse tool. * On 4-5 August there will be many presentations from experts in lighting simulation, a selection of which are already on the schedule . * On 5th August, there will be a community discussion on the future of Radiance development. I'm hoping to welcome many of you to Toronto, and please reach out to me if you have any questions. Registration information along with other details are on our website ! Thank you, Alstan J. This will host all training material and Zoom webinars for all of our future workshops. Making an account is free, plus there's a social element to chat with other platform users and instructors. The inaugural training will include our *EnergyPlus* for Practitioners and *EnergyPlus* EMS Controls workshops as a *public** webinar series*! The *EnergyPlus* for Practitioners webinar sessions will take place from August 29 - September 9 and the *EnergyPlus* EMS Controls workshops will take place from September 27-30. *Visit our training platform to register* *https://training.bigladdersoftware.com/ * EnergyPlus for Practitioners *Workshop Description* - Have you ever wanted to truly understand how to use *EnergyPlus* at the text level? - Have you been using *OpenStudio*, *DesignBuilder*, or another GUI and had the need to peek under the hood to debug a problem or implement a measure or workaround? *This workshop should be a prerequisite for anyone planning to work with EnergyPlus regardless of what user interface you choose.* This two-day workshop focuses on the needs of the energy modeling practitioner in order to get you up to speed and highly productive with *EnergyPlus* as quickly as possible. We cover the fundamentals of *EnergyPlus* such as geometry and internal loads while rapidly ramping up to advanced topics such as HVAC systems and controls. We guide you through the complexities of the *EnergyPlus* syntax, input/output files, documentation, and essential software tools including the *Euclid* plugin for *SketchUp*. Most importantly, we teach you how to use the available resources to teach yourself going forward. Demonstrations and hands-on exercises are used extensively throughout. By the end of the workshop, you should be comfortable with creating, running, and debugging *EnergyPlus* models. EnergyPlus EMS Controls *Workshop Description* This one-day workshop covers the Energy Management System (EMS) capability of *EnergyPlus*, which allows the implementation of custom control strategies and calculation routines that override standard modeling processes within *EnergyPlus*. We cover the *EnergyPlus* Runtime Language (Erl) that is used to describe the custom control programs, how to create EMS components (sensors, actuators, output variables, etc.), and how to debug the execution of EMS programs. Lecture topics include how to create advanced HVAC control sequences, how to override default HVAC operation (flow rate, setpoint temperature, capacity, etc.), how to abort a simulation when operational faults occur, and how to use outputs to generate trend data. Demonstrations and hands-on exercises are used extensively throughout. *Previous experience with EnergyPlus is strongly recommended but not required. * Regards, -- Aaron Boranian 808 895-1741 Big Ladder Software LLC 1624 Market Street, Suite 304 Denver, CO 80202 http://bigladdersoftware.com [image: https://www.youracclaim.com/badges/98aef5bd-84c7-474a-a314-04303695b956/public_url] -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
