We will teach you simulation techniques and methods to enable more sustainable design practices using the enhanced features of our latest release VE 2015.  IES is a registered GBCI Education Provider.

Each day is fully interactive allowing you to bring up your questions and concerns to our experts and get the answers you need to be successful on your projects.

What will the course cover?

Day 1: Basic and Intermediate Energy Modeling in IESVE

This workshop will use 90.1-2007 with some time set aside to discuss key differences in 90.1-2010 and a high-level workflow guide.

> ASHRAE 90.1 baseline automation (90.1-2004, 2007 and 2010 will be referenced)

> 90.1 baseline building geometry and envelope automation

> 90.1 internal gains (lighting, plug loads, occupancy)

> 90.1 baseline HVAC systems and sizing

> Reports: Proposed vs Baseline annual energy consumption and cost

> Unmet load-hours

Day 2: Advanced HVAC and submittal to LEED/GBCI using IESVE

This workshop will focus on integrating Advanced HVAC systems with sub-hourly annual energy simulation.

> Introduction to ApacheHVAC

> Autosizing HVAC systems with integrated, customizable airside and hydronic unit controls

> Advanced VAV systems with min OA reset and/or zone-CO2-based DCV

> ASHRAE standard 62.1 ventilation requirements and settings

> ASHRAE 55 Thermal Comfort calculations

> Whole building energy analysis with integrated advanced HVAC systems

> Heating and Cooling Loads using ASHRAE Heat Balance Method

> Best practices for documenting results from IES for submittal to GBCI for review
