Ronan,
Shading devices do not work in the Revit to IES link. It's something that
I have been beating my head against the wall about for a couple months
now. There's really no way to easily and quickly bring in external
shading devices into IES from Revit at this point in time, whether those
are deep mullions or if they are actual louvers/fins. Sorry for the bad
news, but hopefully Autodesk or IES will listen to those of us who need
this feature and will incorporate it soon.

[Bldg-sim] Issues with IES and Revit
Dear all,
I am currently working on a project where I've to model energy, thermal
and daylight analysis on a very large building. I'm using the link between
Revit MEP2008 and IES. I've also got the full licence for IES's
applications.
However, when I import the model into IES several issues and problems
occur that I require help with, they are as follows;
1) Some windows disappear. These windows are made up as curtain walls. Now
most of the windows in the model are done the same way but a particular
few disappear, troublesome.
2) External shading devices disappear. These are modelled as a speciality
family. I've tried them previously as windows and they don?t work. I would
like to use them as a wall family but due to the architects 3D modelling
procedures and the complexity of the model, we can't.
3) One of my rooms is disappearing. Claims it has no bounding elements.
But it has 6 bounding elements (walls, ceiling & floor).
4) Internal light shelf becomes a "floor" leaving the space reshaped and
obscure.
I'd appreciate any help on the matters and am willing to share my
knowledge to help others. I'm very versed with these issues so please,
don?t be cheeky and recommend Autodesk's White Papers on BIM or energy
modelling as I've read them. There is also a detailed discussion about
this on Autodesk's forum
