MessageIn version 3.61 and earlier the eQUEST wizards do not have an option for
DX AHU with PIU zone boxes. However, in the detail mode, if a PIU system has
been defined you can open the AHU property sheet, go to the cooling tab and
on the coil Cap/Control subtab change the Cool Source from chilled water to
Electric DX. You should then set to default any CHW loop connection and
related values (lower in that column on the subtab) and then you can delete
the chiller(s), cooling tower(s) and CHW loop (in that order) if no longer
used.
In the next release (3.62) DX cooling for PIU AHUs will also available in the wizards.

There seems to be little reponse to the issue of modeling System 6 of ASHRAE 90.1-2004. Has anyone been able to model a Packaged VAV with PFP Boxes in eQUEST?

I would like to discuss question number 1 as well. Appendix G specifies that Direct Expansion be used as the cooling type for System 6. However, the PIU system in eQuest does not allow you to use DX coils. I have seen several archived posts on this same question that say to model a chiller equivalent to the DX coils, but nothing further. I have redefined the chiller performance curves accordingly with no success. Has anyone set up this system succesfully in eQuest?
In response to Questions 2 and 3, the U-value and Shading Coefficient of the glass has significant impact on the energy savings with the HVAC system. In addition, the visible light transmittance of the glass directly impacts the Daylighting controls within the rooms affecting electric usage. The selection of glass should be investigated when determining the window-wall ratio and the resulting savings.

Hello All,
Quick question on System 6: Package VAV w/PFP boxes.
1.. How do you use system 6 in eQUEST? Do you have to use parallel PIU at the zone?
2.. At what percentage of window to wall ratio that high efficiency can star contribute significant saving?
3.. At what number is considered significant saving?
Any respond is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Virdiansyah "Virdi" Permana
