Mohit,
In the detailed interface of eQuest you can create a window using the
"LAYER" method. This allows you to create a layered window with louver,
air and glass layers. The louver can be internal, external or between
two layers of glass. DOE 2.2 documentation discusses it in detail. You
can define the lover properties such as thickness, width, height,
spacing, angle....
This is probably the best (and easiest) way to do what you want.
Good luck,
Mike

Subject: [bldg-sim] eQUEST ext louvers again
I am sure this topic has been beaten to the death!
I have a 160 feet long and 7 feet tall east facing window defined. It
has multiple small external vertical louvers/fins ~6 feet away from the
plane of the glass along its entire length to provide some shade. But
since it has been defined as one window, can one define a very deep fin
(7 feet tall) of say 200 feet on either one or both sides to have the
same effect as multiple smaller fins or louvers? It will look odd on the
graphic though! But will it have a similar shading effect?
Or is it best to define it as a fixed or bldg shade with a shading
schedule/transmissivity? The orientation of the building is final so
either fixed or bldg shade should work.
Thanks.
