[Equest-users] R value Calculators

I agree with Pasha. That's the way I do it. I have also attached the eQuest
materials library which is a big help. It is the values eQuest sets up in
the wizards. Remember you can always call your architect, they should know
weighted wall R-values. If not then I worry a little because that means they
are constructing a wall that does not meet the engineers need when you tell
them they need a R-19 wall, for example. When our engineer tells us this is
the minimum wall R value per energy code we research walls that we need to
construct.
IE:- We use a metal panel with rigid insulation that has an R value of 27.
On the manufacturers site it has their testing for their specific product.
You should consult with an architect because sometimes a wall has specific
characteristics that cannot be altered due to design.
Thanks,

I do it by hand, the good ole way. I also "test" my calcs based on
building up the construction by layers in the eQuest wizard to see what it
is spitting out from thier calculator. For my experiences my calcs and
eQuest calcs have always "lined up" with each other. No better way to do
it than the old way...& my favorite mechanical pencil & TI-81 of course!

Whate are you all using to calculate R Values these days?
Any good calculators out there?
